AOPA-Panama Becomes 59th Affiliate

 

On December 27, 2003 AOPA-Panama became IAOPA’s 59th affiliate.  The organization also conducts business as the Aero Club de Panama and has operated since 1963.  The officers are: President Alfredo Fonseca Mora, Vice President Henry Stec, Treasurer Jurgen Mossack, Secretary Juan Carlos Barbero.  The headquarters is located in Panama City.

 

World Assembly Agenda Set

 

The IAOPA Secretariat has established an agenda for the World Assembly to be held in Toulouse, France 20-24 April 2004.  The product of the World Agenda is designed to enable worldwide general aviation and aerial work interests to thrive and advance in the years to come. The agenda includes the following subjects:

    • Daily reminders

Actions to be taken will be expressed as a series of resolutions resulting from discussions held in conjunction with the presentations listed above.

AOPA-Netherlands Works to Improve GA/AW
  

The Netherlands Parliamentary Undersecretary for Transportation recently met with general aviation and aerial work representatives to discuss topics of mutual interest; AOPA-Netherlands actively participated in the exchange which touched on:

  • Cutting administrative expenses associated with flying
  • Simplifying pilot licensing and medical examination procedures
  • Encouraging the National Aviation Authority to work closer with other European regulatory authorities prior to implementing new regulations
  • Distinguish between powered and unpowered aircraft in regulatory measures
  • Explore increasing amounts of self-regulation for GA/AW

The meeting resulted in the formation of two committees to continue to discuss issues of interest on an ongoing basis.
 

 

AOPA-Australia Appoints New President
 


AOPA-Australia has a new president, Mr. Ron Lawford, an aviation lawyer and experienced pilot.  Mr. Lawford has logged over 15,000 hours of flying time in a variety of aircraft.  He was previously Vice-President of AOPA.


"I am privileged to take on the president's role.  I will continue the hard work undertaken by the AOPA board, and in particular by Marjorie Pagani (previous president) over the last six months. AOPA's priority is to support general aviation, and in particular to foster grass roots flying.  "Mr. Lawford said.


The new vice-presidents are Mr. Ron Bertram, who runs a flying school at Bankstown Airport, and Ms. Adrienne Williams, an aviation enthusiast and pilot from South Australia.

PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME

Saturday 24th in Toulouse Blagnac (LFBO)

Toulouse Blagnac is the region’s major airport, home of Airbus and Aerospatiale. On your first contact with Toulouse ATC please give your Fly In registration number to facilitate your routing to the Fly-In. You will be directed to the General Aviation apron for parking near the exhibition and conferences.

 

To facilitate your arrival in Toulouse, you can download the latest charts on the official French Aeronautical Information site http://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/.

 

Landing and parking fees are exceptionally free, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce of Toulouse.

 

Then you are in for a full day of conferences on various aviation-related themes animated by expert speakers, from 09H30 to 12H30 LT and 14H00 to 17H30 LT.

                                            Sunday 25th in Toulouse Muret (LFBR)

You will attend the 12th Toulouse Muret AIREXPO Airshow. Aerobatics: Breitling team on Sukhoi, Eddy Dussault and many others such as A 340/600, and La Patrouille des Cartouches Dorées ….will be on Sunday’s menu.

A shuttle service will be organised between Blagnac and Muret.
