Hello to all,
Last week the French Federation of aéroclubs got permission to send pilots to the hangar to do ground runup of the engines for a maximum of 20 minutes.
I wrote a text in French warning aircraft owners and operators of the view taken on the subject by engine manufacturers.
This article is available to all of you to inform your members if you feel it’s a good idea.
Regarding the situation in France, we are appalled by the stance taken by the FFA. It is counterproductive.
But, if the confinement situation was to continue (for those of us concerned) or flight restrictions for G imposed to even more countries, we are going to face a moment when it is going to be essential to preserve our engines.
One of the measures that we could suggest to EASA is a message to the NAA’s that would promote the following.
One of the effects of the authorization given to the FFA is that, immediately upon hearing the noise of the engines running on the ground, we got incensed letters and mail originating from the usual GA opponents telling us it was utterly disgusting to see that bunch of rich pilots doing whatever they want, breaking confinement, for their own egoistical pleasure. There is no reasoning with these people, as you all know.
But we got calls for mainstream media journalists, completely bent on showing our dark side (they are also confined…) So a very bad situation…
